Vedic astrology is one of the oldest schools of knowledge. It has existed for countless millennia to the point that the civilizations before humans came into existence used it for their life guidance, so if they used it for their life guidance, you can be sure that it’ll work for you, too.
The term ‘Vedic astrology’ comes from the Vedas, which are a set of religious scriptures in Hinduism that provide guidance about life for human beings by explaining the connection between humanity and divinity. The Vedas have four components, including (1) Rigveda, (2) Yajurveda, (3) Samaveda, and (4) Atharvaveda. I will not go into the details because that is not needed for an applied astrology website, but it doesn’t hurt to know this.
While the roots of Vedic astrology are from Hinduism or Sanatan Dharma (Sanatan means ‘eternal’, and Dharma means ‘righteousness’), the principles of Vedic astrology will apply to anyone from any religious faith – the simple reason being that no matter whichever faith you are born into, such as Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Jew, Buddhist, etc., you are still born on this planet, and therefore, the impacts of the other planets in the solar system and their movements would impact your life in some form or the other.
You can be certain that if you belong to even another faith which may be Abrahamic or monotheistic, you will still be governed by the principles of Vedic astrology, because anyone who was born on the planet Earth will be under the effects of the planetary placements and movements, whether they like it or not.
Important: I shall also be including certain remedies or spells (if you can call them that) intended to solve problems associated with a person’s life through the lens of Vedic astrology, and many of them may include praying or paying one’s respects to the deities of Hinduism. If you are a follower of a monotheistic religion, such as Islam, you may choose to avoid or ignore those remedies if you believe them to be against your personal beliefs. However, even in this case, the knowledge of Vedic astrology shall guide you to better understand why your life is directed the way it is.
Purpose of Vedic Astrology – Why Care?
So, what’s the purpose of Vedic astrology? Why does it exist?
In simple words, to guide, or provide guidance to human beings on what to do and what to not do.
Let’s face it, all of us have bad days. Sometimes, those bad days turn to bad weeks, and in the worst case, bad months, or even bad years.
And when things keep failing for no reason, when your best efforts are met with disappointment, when you cannot secure a job interview even after having the best and most polished resume and having applied to a million vacancies, when your partner decides to ditch you even after you’ve been nothing but a sincere, dedicated, loyal, loving, caring, and successful partner, you know that it is not your fault.
So, Vedic astrology kinda helps you find someone or something else to put the blame on. For example, whenever things keep going wrong for no reason for an extended period of time, instead of calling yourself a failure, you can just blame it on a planetary placement that is not well-placed in your chart.
Jokes aside, it also kinda takes some burden off your shoulders.
Irrespective of whatever the YouTube and social media hustle bros and influencers may have you believe, very, very little is actually in our hands.
In fact, in any situation, only the efforts are in our hands; the results are never in our hands, especially when it comes to (1) wealth, and (2) relationships. Health, however, is mostly in our hands and we can avoid many, if not all, serious health issues by living an overall healthy life.
And still, you might end up getting rekt by some accident (God forbid) that happens on any random sunny day for absolutely no reason.
The same can be said for wealth and relationships; I have seen MAANG (Meta, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, and Google) engineers who thought they were totally secured in their lives earning $300k+ per annum get laid off when they least expect it with impending mortgage payments. I’ve also seen super-successful celebrities and entrepreneurs have divorces pretty randomly, such as that of Johnny Depp, who had an ugly spat with his (now divorced) Amber Heard which got litigated in the court and caused him considerable trouble.
So, life is pretty uncertain. Vedic astrology can at least give you some idea of what to expect and how you can be better prepared for it.
That’s the purpose of Vedic astrology.
How to Use this Website?
As the website name suggests, this website is here to help you learn Vedic Astrology. There can be two applications:
- Personal/recreational – if you are curious to learn about your life better, you can read the notes on this website and get a better understanding of your life and what you may expect overall in various aspects – health, wealth, relationships.
- Business/commercial – if you are truly interested in learning Vedic astrology and also compassionate enough to help others using its applied knowledge, you may consider taking up a career as a Vedic astrologer, too.
However, note that Vedic astrology as a field of knowledge is pretty self-less or righteous. If you wish to be a Vedic astrologer by profession, you must have selfless motives in your heart, that is, to help other people genuinely make sense of their lives and not just make a quick buck. If you are a money-minded person, there is nothing wrong with that, but you may consider other fields such as finance, software development, engineering, entertainment, etc. Vedic astrology is a spiritual field, and so, you must approach it with the right intentions if you wish to be successful.
Note that depending on your level of knowledge, you may consider being a part-time or freelance Vedic astrologer; it does not have to be your full-time profession, though you can consider that as well if you end up falling in love with the field of study and making a decent income out of it.
So, to use this website, just read the chapters one-by-one. I am a self-taught Vedic astrologer myself, so I have done my best to label the chapters in a fashion that would help you obtain a near-complete understanding of your astrological chart and with time and practice, also guide others accordingly.

Can Anyone Learn Vedic Astrology?
Much like any other field of study or profession, such as investment banking, software development, forex trading, medical and nursing, automobile engineering, nuclear physics, Vedic astrology is a field of study and a profession in itself.
That begs the question – can anyone learn Vedic astrology?
The answer is, yes.
As a field of knowledge, all you really need to learn Vedic astrology decently well is some interest and time. As for resources, everything is available on the internet now, freely even. For example, this website itself is a repository of Vedic astrology notes to help you, or anyone, learn the subject.
However, now the question is, can anyone become a professional Vedic astrologer?
The answer is, no.
The reason is that Vedic astrology is not a field or profession for the money-minded. You will not have bonuses, performance pay, perks, etc. There aren’t any global, multinational companies with six-figure salaries hiring Vedic astrologers, for example.
Of course, there are many Vedic astrologers who are extremely rich, but they are likely not too focused on their earnings. It just comes to them naturally. After all, doesn’t everything come to you when you stop expecting whether that’s love or money?
The suggested way to go about this is to learn the basics of Vedic astrology and see if it interests you. By the time you are done reading the basics of the subject, if you still find yourself curious and inquisitive enough to continue building your knowledge and skills further, then you can perhaps consider becoming a professional Vedic astrologer.
How to Learn Vedic Astrology?
To be a successful Vedic astrologer (whether by profession or by knowledge/enthusiasm), you must know where to learn Vedic astrology from.
Having the right teacher or right source of information can often make or break a career. If you have a good mentor or teacher, you will undoubtedly excel in your field. Conversely, if you are being guided by someone who is money-minded and cares more about your wallet than your knowledge and learning, you will either end up gaining half-knowledge or worse yet, incorrect knowledge.
And Vedic astrology is a very serious business.
Why?
Because it concerns the biggest aspects of a person’s life, such as:
- What will their personality be like?
- What kind of person will they marry?
- What kind of relationships (sexual or non-sexual) will they have?
- How many children will they have post-marriage?
- Which profession or field will the person succeed in, financially?
- How will the post-marital life of the person be?
- How long will the person live?
- What kind of health issues is the person likely to have?
So, health, wealth, relationships – Vedic astrology has the solution to every problem, given that the Vedic astrologer knows what they are doing.
Nowadays, Vedic astrology has been turned into a joke or money-making business with many astrologers purposely making fake claims to their clients or customers in the hopes to extract more money needlessly, which is completely wrong.
Likewise, there are perhaps hundreds, if not thousands, of books on Vedic astrology available in the market – all of which can make it incredibly confusing for a Vedic astrology student to decide what to study from and where from.
As a self-taught Vedic astrologer, I faced the same dilemma. That is why I came up with this website. It is going to require countless hours of effort from my end, likely without any reward, but even if one reader finds this website helpful someday, then I would consider it my success and hopefully, my legacy.
I believe that when it comes to learning Vedic astrology, one should acquire the knowledge necessary to:
- Analyze the Vedic astrological charts of a person and understand them
- Predict the approximate (or even accurate) timings of events in the said person’s life
- Guide the person with regards to their major life decisions – which field to pursue their education in, what kind of person to marry, etc.
- Warn the person of any impending dangers related to their health, wealth, or family.
As per my understanding, if a Vedic astrologer is capable of doing the four things mentioned above, they are competent enough to be a professional Vedic astrologer and will certainly have a bright career in this field.
So, I would advise that the reader follows a single, unified source of Vedic astrology to learn practical, applied knowledge that can enable them to fulfill the four things mentioned (analyze, predict, guide, and warn).
I am working hard to ensure that Learn Vedic Astro becomes that source for you. This website shall continue to be updated periodically with new content to help you grasp new contents of Vedic astrology from time-to-time.
How is this Website Structured?
For the ease of navigation, I have structured this website into two parts – Basic Vedic Astrology (Natal Chart Analysis) and Advanced Vedic Astrology (Predictive Vedic Astrology) . If you are simply interested in studying Vedic astrology for the sake of getting a better understanding of your life, reading the basic parts will suffice. However, if you wish to be a full-fledged astrologer or consider Vedic astrology as a career option, then you shall also benefit from reading the advanced notes on Vedic astrology.
I recommend you first start by completing the basic sections of the Vedic astrology notes and then move on to the advanced sections.
What is the Source of this Information?
So, for the sake of transparency, I would also explain or disclose the information sources which have helped me write those notes on Vedic astrology.
I am aware that there are multiple websites teaching Vedic astrology as well as numerous Vedic astrologers, each with their own paid courses and other proprietary content.
However, I believe that the original sources are always the best. Therefore, I rely on the ancient Indian scriptures on Vedic astrology such as:
- Brihat Parashar Hora Shashtra (vol. 1)
- Brihat Parashar Hora Shashtra (vol. 2)
- Bhrigu Samhita
- Balabhadra’s Hora Ratnam (vol. 1)
The rationale behind using those ancient sources is that:
- They are original, which underlines Learn Vedic Astro’s emphasis on authenticity
- They are not created for any commercial purpose; there are no clickbait titles or headings with unrealistic promises
- They ensure uniformity as opposed to referring to multiple authors who may have their own interpretation of things
The books mentioned here are a treasure trove of information for anyone interested in Vedic astrology; in fact, the information on this website is nothing but a simplified compilation of selected information from those aforementioned titles that are directed and providing an action-oriented approach to Vedic astrology instead of learning everything.
The reason for me starting this website is because I felt the need to have an online repository of information that could be readily accessed by anyone who wanted practical Vedic astrology knowledge at their fingertips without having to learn the history or lore behind it (which would not be necessary anyhow if one simply wants to be a competent Vedic astrologer) and have the same in a simple, directed manner in easy-to-understand language.
