Sun in the 9^th house will make the native religious and they will likely be a devotee of the Sun God (Surya Dev) and/or other gods. However, unless in its own sign (Leo) or in exaltation (Aries), the relations of the native with their father will not be great. He/she will not stand to gain much from their father either.

Additionally, such a native would also be very interested in religious knowledge and may consider pursuing higher learning in the said domains of religious studies (including Vedic astrology, for example). The person would also be benevolent and make donations to charity and religious or good causes. Also, the said person may not have much sexual urges as they would be more interested in religious and spiritual activities.

There isn’t much to be said here except that if Sun is afflicted, the native’s father may pass away sooner than expected or may suffer financially or physically.

Some conditions to note here are:

1. Sun in own sign (Leo) or exaltation (Aries) – the native would be extremely fortunate and will have a successful marriage, children, a good wife, and a long-lived father who would have riches and good health. The person would be quite wealthy too, but he/she will take interest in religious activities and rites as well as donations to charitable and religious causes.
2. Sun conjunct benefic planets – the native’s father would be long-lived and he would enjoy an overall good life with a religious inclination.
3. Sun aspected by benefic planets – same results as above but less prominent; although, aspects of benefic planets, especially Jupiter, can cancel malefic planets’ influences.
4. Sun conjunct Ketu – this is a special conjunction, because Ketu itself is for religiousness, spirituality, and detachment, so when Sun conjuncts Ketu, the person or native would not only be extremely religious himself/herself, but there is also a strong  chance of them deciding to abandon worldly life and consider living akin to a monk although they will not be able to formally renounce their worldly duties unless other planets are supporting the idea. However, in this situation too, the native shall suffer lack of gains or benefits from their father as Ketu detaches the native from material gains and growth. The native would do well in religious and spiritual pursuits, however.
