The 8th house is another malefic house where very few planets actually perform well – and even they will suffer negative effects there. Venus here gives knowledge of occult arts, but the person will suffer rapid relationships, meaning they will come and break just as easily, thereby degrading the mental health of the person considerably. Ketu in the 8th house can give decent results if it is well-placed, but not without challenges, but at least it won’t end the person’s life.
Above all, the 8th house rules longevity, so Moon better be placed well here, if it is, or the person could suffer a blow to their longevity and lifespan.
A badly placed Moon here will cause the person to suffer a death that will come through watery means, such as drowning or choking on water or liquids, etc. To a lesser extent, the person can also suffer accidents if not death.
Furthermore, if the Moon is placed in the 8th house, the person will be fond of secret relationships with others outside their relationship or marriage, and if their spouse finds out about it, the person may lose their relationship or marriage. The reverse can also happen – the spouse can also turn out to be the cheater, but for that, the 7th house needs to be afflicted as well.
Some considerations here:
- Moon in Her own sign (Cancer) or exaltation (Taurus) – the Moon gains exceptional power in those cases and She will protect the native from accidents as well as sudden death that is unnatural.
- Moon in friendly signs – some element of the 8th house will still carry over; for example, the person may not die unnaturally, but they could suffer serious accidents.
If afflicted, the Moon will reduce the longevity of the person and make them more prone to dying randomly or unnaturally, unless the Moon is aspected by a benefic.
Not much needs to be said about the 8th house because it is inherently quite malefic to the point even Rahu turns into a powerful Maraka if it is posited in the 8th house, more so for Capricorn and Aquarius ascendants.
