The 11^th house of the Lagna (ascendant) chart represents gains, profits, wealth accumulation, elder brothers and sisters, friends, social connections, clubs, social activities, social success, honour, etc. Because the 11^th house is a house where even malefics give good results (generally), Mercury’s placement in the 11^th house would be considered extremely auspicious for the native, if it is well-placed that is.

Mercury in this placement will also give a long life to the native if it is placed in its exaltation or in His own sign without any affliction. Such an individual will enjoy a good married life and their prosperity will continue to grow even after marriage given that the spouse has a Kundali or horoscope that does not counteract the benefits or good effects of the placement in the native’s chart.

Mercury in the 11^th house will give the native income through multiple sources and those will continue to increase both in quantum as well as number (of sources) as the time passes. Mercury will also bless the individual with good children (since Mercury’s 7^th aspect or Drishti would fall upon the 5^th house which represents progeny of the native).

Additionally, Mercury here will enable the individual to perform religious rites and conduct auspicious ceremonies while potentially helping them earn income from the same.

There doesn’t appear to be much of a disagreement in the situation that a well-placed Mercury in the 11^th house will give the individual immense wealth and success. However, there are still some considerations to consider:

Mercury in exaltation (Virgo) – this is applicable to Scorpio ascendants. Mercury in the 11^th house in exaltation will undoubtedly bestow considerable riches upon the native as well as a long life. Unfortunately, because Mercury would be aspecting the 7^th house from the 11^th house, it will be looking at Pisces in the 5^th house through its 7^th aspect or Drishti, which could potentially cause some issues with the native attempting to obtain children. However, Mercury in exaltation will give the individual wealth through the performance of virtuous deeds.

Mercury in His own sign (Gemini) – this is applicable to Leo ascendants. Mercury in the 11^th house in Gemini will be even more beneficial to the individual than Mercury in exaltation because they will undeniably gain considerable wealth, maintain their accumulated wealth, get advantages of progeny, possibly earn money from a business or field of education, and finally, have the opportunity to demonstrate his/her cleverness which will make them famous in their social circles.

Mercury in debilitation (Pisces) – this is applicable to Taurus ascendants. While in debilitation, Mercury will lead to confusion of the native with regard to their income sources, and they are likely to make wrong decisions in investments and matters relating to wealth which may cause them financial losses. Also, they may have struggles or delays with regards to obtaining children.

Mercury Rahu conjunction – in the 11^th house, Rahu will give the individual many sources of income if placed in a sign that Rahu finds itself comfortable in, such as Taurus or Gemini or even Virgo. The individual will earn through social networks and may also befriend high profile individuals such as politicians and businessmen. However, most if not all of those friends will be Fairweather friends and they will abandon the native during his/her times of need. In Gemini, the Mercury Rahu or Rahu Mercury conjunction will give maximum wealth benefit to the individual, but they will struggle to find true friends and their friendships or connections will start and end with financial interests.

Mercury Ketu conjunction – Ketu in the 11^th house gives gains through spiritual means but may also result in detachment due to money being lost due to social connections or circles; the individual may not have many people in their life although the 11^th house also governs social connections and one’s friend circles due to the solitary nature of Ketu. Mercury Ketu conjunction in Sagittarius in the 11^th house, however, will bestow heavy monetary benefits upon the native and they will enjoy immense benefits since Mercury also performs well in Sagittarius. In other signs, the individual will still gain wealth but they may have to work very hard. Even if it is a zodiac sign that is friendly for Mercury, Ketu’s detachment and spiritual powers will overpower the possible material gains of the former.
