The third group of houses in the ascendant chart is referred to as the Cadent Houses or the Apoklima Bhava of the Lagna Chart.

Planets positioned in the 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th houses are considered to be Cadent house planets; impact-wise, they have the least impact out of all the three groups (including angular houses, succedent houses, and cadent houses).

  1. 3rd House (Third House) – governs the relations of the native with their siblings, short-distance journeys, courage, education up to the school level (higher secondary education or grade 12th or A-level), writing, ornaments, signing contracts and documents, etc. For the native, it denotes the health of their brother or sister, their lifestyle, nature, personality, etc. It is referred to as the Sahaj Bhava.
  2. 6th House (Sixth House) – governs the aspect of health and diseases, service (humanitarian service to people, society, etc.), enemies, debts, mental worries or concerns, obstacles in life, etc. The 6th house is known as Ari Bhava (Ari stands for enemy).
  3. 9th House (Ninth House) – the 9th house is the house of destiny, fortune, higher education, religious places, or visits to religious places, etc. It is referred to as the Dharma Bhava. The ninth house also controls the person’s preceptor or Guru, wife’s brothers, etc.
  4. 12th House (Twelfth House) – the 12th house governs moksha or salvation, isolation, losses, expenses, dreams, bed pleasures, hidden enemies, charitable acts, psychic powers, unexpected losses, self-sacrifice, imprisonment, etc. It also considers hidden thoughts, subconscious feelings, malice, fraud, deception, suicide, murder, etc. Note that the 12th house is not inherently evil unless it is afflicted. It is referred to as the Vyaya Bhava (expenditure house).
