The 10^th house of the ascendant (Lagna) chart governs profession, job, business, authority, power, occupation, relations with the government, moral responsibilities, health and relationship with the father, as well as societal status of the father, job promotion, reputation in society, etc.

It is no doubt that the 10^th house is undoubtedly one of the best house placements for Mercury given that the planet itself controls business, jobs, trade, commerce, etc.

If Mercury is well-placed in the 10^th house, then the person will achieve immense growth in their career and may even occupy the executive level positions in the world’s leading companies. If they are a businessperson, then they can expect to see their turnover grow considerably over the years through consistent hard work and dedication.

The effects are even more prominent if Mercury is placed in the 10^th house in exaltation (in Virgo), meaning that the ascendant would be Sagittarius. In such a case, the individual would either be a big businessperson or hold an executive level position at a top company and earn handsomely from the same. However, the drawback is that because the person’s career would be so immense that they will begin neglecting their family and therefore, such an individual would lack domestic happiness in their life. However, they will likely not care about the same.

If Mercury is placed in Gemini in the 10^th house, meaning that the individual has a Virgo ascendant, it will still give the same level of benefits as it would have in terms of exaltation. Note that in this case, Mercury also helps the constitution of the native and gives them an overall pleasing appearance with chances for them to gain money from the government (preferably through a government job); the individual would also enjoy happiness from their mother (if Moon is not afflicted) and they would be a good manager of their work.

Also, the 10^th house is a Kendra Bhava, so Mercury posited in its own sign (Gemini) or in exaltation (Virgo) would cause the native to enjoy the benefits of Bhadra Raj Yog. Bhadra Raj Yog is one of the Five Mahapurusha Yoga(s) which confers wealth, prosperity, success, growth, etc., to the individual. However, such a person will be quite stubborn and they will listen to nobody but themselves and their own actions will be as per their own understanding.

Mercury Rahu conjunction in the 10^th house will work wonders for the native if the conjunction happens in the sign of Mercury, whether in exaltation (Virgo) or in His own sign (Gemini), because Rahu in the 10^th house will create an obsession of the native towards their career and professional and when that is combined with the intellect of Mercury, the individual will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that their career growth remains immense. However, in this case, Rahu’s 7^th Drishti or 7^th aspect will be cast upon the 4^th house, thereby causing the individual’s relations with his/her mother to be affected with potential health risks to the native’s mother.

Mercury Ketu conjunction in the 10^th house will be naturally damaging to the native as the 10^th house is about worldly matters and materialistic achievements, so Ketu in the same house will likely or more often than not detach the individual from their materialistic factors. The only zodiac sign where Mercury Ketu conjunction or Ketu Mercury conjunction works favourably is Sagittarius, meaning that the ascendant would be Pisces. But even in this case, the individual needs to toil immensely or work extremely hard to develop something of value for their name in the material world. Luckily, Mercury in Sagittarius will deliver good results, offsetting some of the ill-effects of a poorly placed Ketu.

Mercury Jupiter conjunction in the 10^th house will be immensely beneficial to the individual as they will be more focused in working with the government and earning a name for themselves through their work or business while also performing religious activities and rites. Jupiter in the 10^th house will give excellent results, more so if it is conjunct with Mercury. Such an individual will earn wealth and popularity through honest means.
