If the Sun is strongly placed in the fifth house, that is to say, either in its own sign, or as a functional benefic (a planet is said to be a functional benefic when it is the lord or the ruling planet of the 5^th house and the 9^th house), then it will give good results (since lords of the trines will always give good results irrespective of their nature being malefic or benefic). In such cases, the Sun will be a source of creativity and motivation for the native to pursue creative pursuits; when it comes to romance, they will love themselves more than their partner and focus on fulfilling their own needs first (this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it can be if the person or native ends up harming their partner’s interests to fulfill their own).

If benefic, the Sun in the 5^th house will also introduce the native to various romantic adventures, particularly if they are a male. After marriage, they may expect a male child unless Sun is afflicted in some manner. In this house, Sun also induces a sense of extroversion in the person and they are likely to be quite social by nature and have a big friend’s circle. The person would be quite expressive in nature and will love to explore new kinds of arts and styles if Sun is well-placed here.

If afflicted, the Sun here will cause the native to have numerous issues when it comes to romantic relationships, primarily due to their ego. They will be wise and brilliant regardless, but they may have few or no children (as the Sun, when afflicted, destroys the effects of the house it is placed in).

Some conditions to remember:

1. Sun conjunct Rahu or Ketu (unless aspected by a benefic planet) – the native may have children but they may lose their lives due to snake bite or poison.
2. Sun conjunct Mars (unless aspected by a benefic or unless Sun is in its own sign or in exaltation) – the person may suffer loss of children due to enemies.
3. For Sagittarius ascendants – Sun would be the lord of the 9^th house and posited in the 5^th house, this is an immensely beneficial placement for the native and they will earn very decent wealth, be respected in society, and be quite intelligent.
4. Sun in Aries (exaltation) or in Leo (His own sign) – the native will have multiple sons and they (the sons) shall be prosperous; additionally, the native will be financially well-off and he/she will also be a source of help and guidance to others around himself/herself.

Note that Sun will be able to benefit the native’s creativity/children only in the following cases: in its own sign (Leo), or exaltation, or if it’s a functional benefic (lord of the 5^th and 9^th house), or aspected by Jupiter or Venus, or is conjunct with them. In any other case, one or more of the malefic effects may apply.
